США : Беженцы

А нужно ли доказывать родство между тем, кто вызывает, и потенциальным беженцем, или достаточно affidavit of support?

No specific proof is required. However, affidavit should be signed in the presence of a public notary. Affidavit, in addition to this particular refugee applicant, contains information about all parents (and step-), siblings (and half-, adopted and step-), children (and adopted and step-) and spouse (and all ex-, with dates of marriage and divorce). The potential refugee in the application for refugee (a separate for; looks like it is I-590; it is filled out before the interview and needs to be presented there) has to list the same types of relatives. The potential refugee has to show his/her certificate of birth, certificates of marriages and divorces for all marriages and divorces, certificates of birth of all children -- at the interview in US embassy in Moscow.

If any discrepancy is found, the potential refugee can be denied a refugee status; a person with a GC or refugee status, filling out affidavit of support on his/her behalf in a fraudulent way can be stripped off GC or refugee status and deported for alien smuggling. US citizen can be fined or imprisoned (what I can hardly believe).

If no discrepancy is found, they believe you. However, if later the discrepancy is found (for instance, the potential refugee gets refugee status and fills out affidavit of relationship for somebody else in a different way than the first time it was filled out for him/her), everybody involved can have very unpleasant consequences.
